The first step required for weaving handmade carpets is known as the carpet being on the counter. The bench is known as a pulley in which the lower part rests on the ground and the upper part can play. This pulley is made up of thick poles that are interlocked.
When looking at the carpet bench, the ropes are tightly stretched from top to bottom. It is seen that carpets are woven on these yarns. These weaving threads are called warp.
The warp threads are stretched so that a certain part is on the front and a certain part is on the back, revealing 2 sides. A wand called varagele is placed between them.
It is useful to leave a space between the yarn by being lowered up and down between the wand and the yarn.
In this way, knotting is done in carpet weaving.
Among the unique yarns on the carpet loom, the yarn that is left from the back and the front and passed in a transverse way is called weft. This thread has a layout for easy threading.
It is complete during each knot and when the weft thread is to be threaded, single or double thread rows are pushed back.
When the knot row is completed, they are pulled down and used on the sides called kirkit. The kirkit hitting the weft wires pushes the knot between the two wefts down and compresses it. With this stage, the hand-woven carpet is completed.
